Experience an extraordinary gourmet feast with Black Nebula carrots - perfect for roasting, steaming, dyes, or enjoying fresh. Not only are they versatile in the kitchen, but they also produce stunning white umbel blossoms with hints of lavender, adding a beautiful touch to your garden. A must-have for any kitchen or garden.
After the carrots grow too large to eat leave them in the garden and use for cut flowers. The white umbels are tinged with lavender on the edges and flower stems. Bees love carrot flowers so they make great food for pollinators.
Sow these carrot seeds directly into your garden in early spring, ideally two weeks before the average last frost date. For the best chance of germination, the soil temperature should be between 50-85 degrees. When your seedlings reach 1" in height, thin them out. Consider making successive sowings every two to three weeks. However, keep in mind that carrots may not do well if planted during the summer heat. You can resume planting in late summer for a fall harvest. When storing, leave only 1" of tops on the carrots. Keep in mind that even with the optimal temperature, carrot seeds can take up to 18 days to germinate.
