Argyreia nervosa, commonly known as Hawaiian baby woodrose, is a perennial flowering vine native to the Indian subcontinent and now found in various regions such as Hawaii, Africa, and the Caribbean. This plant is highly valued for its beauty despite being potentially invasive. Hawaiian baby woodrose is a perennial vine with heart-shaped leaves and lavender-pink trumpet-shaped flowers. It can grow up to 30 feet in length and is typically found in zones 9 to 12.
HOW TO GROW :Sow your Hawaiian baby woodrose seeds in late spring or early summer. Nick the seeds with a craft knife first and soak them for 24 hours. Plant them 1/2 inch deep and 5 feet apart, in sandy and only moderately fertile soil, along a wall, fence or pergola which they can climb.

These plants can be grown outdoors all year round where temperatures do not freeze or be put in pots and be brought indoors for the winter elsewhere. Cuttings can also be taken by layering. The roots, leaves and seeds were used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for a variety of purposes including, purification, nervous system support, joint health and sexual arousal. Despite traditional use in India, the seeds should not be used in the United States because they contain compounds that are illegal to ingest.
