Onion Set: 30 BULBS

Ebenezer White Onion Sets

Open-pollinated. Long day. Bright crystal white orbs with delicate papery skin. Plant close for small bunching onions, or give them room to size up into uniform round slicers. Very sweet, great for fresh eating. They don’t store long, so use them up in guacamole, on burgers and in salads - Approx. 100-130 onion sets per pound
Plant dormant onion sets 1-2 inches deep and 2-3 inches apart. Thin the plants to 3-4 inches apart once they begin to grow. Use excess plants as green onions. For optimal growth, add compost or humus to the soil before planting. Space onion plants 4-6 inches apart.

Use a nitrate-based fertilizer for onions grown on high sulfur content soils. Consult with a garden center expert for the right option. Consider the components listed on the fertilizer bag, such as 12-24-12, when choosing an all-purpose fertilizer.

Care Tips/Maintenance
Onions may need lots of moisture at the beginning, but less when the bulbs are approaching full size. When the tops begin to fall over naturally, it's time to pull the onions up.
Harvest Instructions
Members of the onion family generally give a very obvious signal when they are ready to harvest. The tops fall over and the tips of the leaves start to turn brown. In addition, the bulbs are full size. Pull the onions, shake off any soil, but do not wash them or pull off any outside wrapper leaves.
Storage Instructions
Store the onions in a very cool place (your basement or even an old refrigerator) trying to keep them between 35 and 55°F (1 and 12°C). The closer to 35 degrees the less chance the onions will sprout. Check your onions occasionally and use the ones showing signs of sprouting or softening right away. With good storage, your onion crop should last most of the winter.
