The untreated Zimbabwe Birds Pepper seeds are heirloom varieties known for their small, red peppers. These peppers can grow up to 2 feet tall and produce hundreds of hot pods year-round. This high yielding plant, originating in East Africa, reaches a height of 120cm and is commonly used in Portuguese cuisine for pickling, salsas, sauces, soups, and vinegars.

The Zimbabwe Birds Pepper seeds (Capsicum Annum) are a type of very hot pepper from the Capsicum frutescens species, which also includes the Tabasco variety. These peppers are between 1 and 2 cm long, with a diameter of 0.5 cm. They can be found throughout Africa, including in the wild, and the plant can vary in height from 30 cm to 120 cm. These peppers are commonly used in piri-piri dishes.

This seed produces an extremely hot pepper commonly used in Asian cuisine. Once dried, it can be ground into a fine powder. Native to South America, it is also referred to as Malagueta pepper and can be easily cultivated in containers.

Peppers can be grown all year long in containers. It is suitable for apartment dwellers and gardeners who live in cool regions where the number of growing days are limited. Many pepper enthusiast grow peppers in pots so they can have fresh peppers all year long. It’s best to use 5 gallon containers so the roots do not get too over-crowded

Water Requirements: Water well with soaker hoses during dry and hot spells.
Fertilizer Requirements: Use Slow Release Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Apply Miracle Gro every two weeks.

very pretty plant

while not easy to germinate if a few of ten seeds do it will be worth the small cost. at least one did well and overwintered here in baton rouge. zone 9a. inside during freeze. outside otherwise in 4 inch ceramic pot. transplanted one year later into 3 gallon injection molded pot 2000 series. from very rootbound, almost no soil to a well branched almost two foot vibrant plan with half inch thick base stem after one month and still branching. loaded with small peppers 1/3 to near inch blunt rounded tips. ripe reds are hotter than greens. slow heat to long burn with nice little flavor. i got these seeds from caribbean garden seed in 2019. well worth the small price. also got brown peruvian which is a larger plant, but waiting to see how big the bird pepper can get before winter where i will bring it in like recent winter. thank you!
