Siberian IrisĀ  'Caesar's Brother'’
Best grouped in sunny areas of ponds or water gardens. Also may be grown in moist border areas.

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position:Ā full sun or partial shade
  • Soil:Ā well-drained, moderately fertile soil
  • Rate of growth:Ā average
  • Flowering period:Ā June to July
  • Hardiness:Ā fully hardy
  • The Maranatha Siberian Iris boasts its wide deep-purple petals in mid-spring. The impressive blooms open up in springtime to show their white stripes near the center. The foliage is tall and narrow, with a light green color that contrasts with the deep purple of the flowers. Plant these Irises in groups for some cool-toned variety in your garden. The icing on the cake is that these perennials are low maintenance, thriving for many years to come.
  • Planting & Growing

Ā Siberian Iris will grow to be about 22 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 24 inches. When grown in masses or used as a bedding plant, individual plants should be spaced approximately 18 inches apart. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 10 years.
This plant does best in full sun to partial shade. It is quite adaptable, prefering to grow in average to wet conditions, and will even tolerate some standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America. It can be propagated by division; however, as a cultivated variety, be aware that it may be subject to certain restrictions or prohibitions on propagation.

Garden care:Ā Plant in soil that has been improved with well-rotted manure or garden compost and do not allow to dry out, particularly as the plant is getting established. If planted in a container, it will need dividing and repotting every couple of years in spring.
