Scabiosa: 10 Seeds

This Scabiosa Mix features elegant blooms measuring 2 1/2-3 1/2", long wiry stems, and a good vase life, making it the perfect choice for cutting. The seed pods of this hardy perennial can also add whimsy and interest to mixed bouquets. It is capable of producing blooms consistently throughout the summer, even in hot and humid climates. Suitable for zones 3-7, it can reach a height of up to 20 inches in a sunny garden.

Grow beautiful lilac-blue Pincushion Flowers from Scabiosa seeds. Easy to grow with fern-like foliage, reaching 20 inches tall. Perfect for borders and beds.

Sowing: Plant these Scabiosa Atropurpurea seeds just below the soil's surface in late fall or early spring. Alternatively, you can start them indoors 3-4 weeks before planting outdoors. Ensure the soil is kept lightly moist until germination, which typically occurs within 7-14 days. Once they grow several leaves, transplant the seedlings.

Growing: Water seedlings periodically until they are established; adult plants thrive in moderately dry soil and are resistant to drought and poor soil. Removing spent flowers or trimming the plant will result in a subsequent flush of blossoms. Pincushion flower plants will self-sow unless pruned after blooming. These flowers attract both butterflies and bees.

Harvesting: Select freshly bloomed flowers and remove any leaves that will be submerged in water to preserve the longevity of these cut flowers. Ensure immediate placement in water for ideal results.
