Size: 10 Seeds

Add a splash of red to a sunny patio with Prairie Fire pepper seeds. This compact Capsicum annuum variety produces clusters of tiny upright pods that ripen from pale green to red against green foliage. Its small stature makes it an appealing ornamental pepper for containers and small garden spaces.

How to sow

Start indoors in a seed-starting mix, sowing approximately 1/4 inch deep. Keep the mix warm and evenly moist, not soggy. Gentle bottom heat can help maintain warmth. Germination may take several weeks, so give the seeds time before discarding the tray.

Growing in beds and containers

Move plants outdoors after frost danger has passed and the soil has warmed. Choose a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Use containers with drainage holes and room for root growth. Water consistently during hot or dry weather, allowing excess water to drain freely, and protect plants from frost.

Enjoying Prairie Fire

Place a pot where you can watch the upright pods brighten as they ripen. Their clustered growth brings color to a patio or small garden without requiring a large planting area. If removing ripe pods, use scissors rather than pulling on the stems.

Handle with care

Treat the pods as hot peppers. Wear gloves when cutting or handling them, avoid touching your eyes or face, and wash hands and utensils thoroughly afterward. Keep pods away from children and pets. This product contains seeds, not a live plant or fresh pepper pods.
