SIZE: 300 SEEDS

Grow dark green, arrow-shaped spinach leaves with Imperial Green Hybrid. Its upright foliage suits harvests of tender baby greens or full-sized leaves for salads, stir-fries, and sautéing. Sow a cool-season bed or a well-lit container and enjoy fresh-picked greens close to the kitchen.

Seed details

  • Variety: Imperial Green Hybrid
  • Botanical name: Spinacia oleracea
  • Leaf: Dark green, arrow-shaped, with an upright habit
  • Approximate harvest: 25 days for baby greens; 38 days for mature leaves, depending on conditions
  • Available quantities: 300 or 1,000 seeds

Growing instructions

Direct sow in early spring or fall, or during winter where the climate is mild. Choose fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Sow about 1/2 inch deep and 1 inch apart, then thin to 4–6 inches for full-sized plants. Keep soil consistently moist without waterlogging. Spinach grows best in cool to mild conditions; bolt tolerance does not make it a dependable hot-summer crop.

Harvest and kitchen uses

Cut baby greens at soil level, or pick individual outer leaves from mature plants while leaving the growing center intact. Use tender leaves in salads and larger leaves in stir-fries, soups, or sautéed dishes. Harvest timing varies with weather and growing conditions.

Variety notes

The variety information lists bolt tolerance and resistance to downy mildew races 1–7, 9, 11, and 13. Resistance is not immunity, so maintain good growing conditions and monitor plants for disease.
