Campari-Type Cocktail Tomato Seeds

Grow red cocktail tomatoes with a sweet flavor, balanced acidity and juicy texture. Larger than cherry tomatoes but smaller than beefsteaks, these golf ball-sized fruits are convenient for snacking, salads and quick summer meals.

This listing is for Campari-type tomato seeds, not live plants. The Campari-type name describes the cocktail tomato style; it does not guarantee the same results as a branded supermarket tomato.

Variety details

  • Fruit: round, deep red, approximately 2–3 ounces
  • Growth habit: indeterminate; requires staking, caging or trellising
  • Listed maturity: approximately 65 days from transplant, depending on growing conditions
  • Season: warm-season annual
  • Light: full sun
  • Soil: fertile and well-drained, with a preferred pH of 6.0–6.8

Starting from seed

Start indoors 6–8 weeks before your expected last frost. Sow in seed-starting mix, lightly cover with fine mix and keep evenly moist without waterlogging. At 70–80°F, germination typically takes 5–10 days, although conditions can affect timing.

Remove any humidity cover after seedlings emerge and provide bright light. Thin to one seedling per cell or pot once true leaves develop. Gradually harden seedlings off over 7–10 days before transplanting.

Transplanting and support

Plant outdoors after frost danger has passed, when soil has warmed above 60°F and nighttime temperatures are consistently above 50°F. Space plants 24–36 inches apart, allowing 4–5 feet between rows. Set plants deeply after removing leaves that would be buried, and install sturdy supports at planting time.

Growing and care

Water deeply and consistently at the base of the plants. Avoid alternating very dry and saturated soil, which can contribute to fruit splitting and other growing problems. Mulch to conserve moisture and feed according to the directions on a fertilizer suitable for tomatoes.

Secure growing stems loosely to supports and maintain good airflow. Pruning needs depend on your support system; avoid removing excessive foliage that helps protect fruit from sun exposure.

Harvest and kitchen uses

Harvest when tomatoes are fully red and ripe, checking plants regularly during peak production. Indeterminate plants can continue producing while temperatures and growing conditions remain suitable.

Enjoy fresh in salads, Caprese, bruschetta and salsa, or roast with garlic and herbs. Halved cocktail tomatoes also work well in quick pasta sauces and on pizza.

Keep unripe tomatoes at room temperature until ripe. Refrigerate ripe fruit when needed to extend storage, bringing it back to room temperature before serving.
