With a unique and eye-catching color palette, the 3" blooms of Dahlias - Anemone Flowering - Bumble Rumble are sure to make a statement. The soft pink base petals are beautifully overlaid with a striking raspberry hue that extends partially up each petal. In a rare occurrence, this raspberry color also appears vividly on the backside of the bloom. Adding to the visual contrast, the collar of this flower, which is larger than most collarettes, is a pure white that almost reaches the end of the base petals. With a height of 4', this plant produces an abundance of these stunning blooms.
Planting
For cooler climates, it is recommended to plant Bumble Rumble Dahlias indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost date. Use 1 or 2 gallon flowerpots or garden containers filled with slightly moist growing mix. Place the tuber(s) facing up, and cover with 2 inches of potting soil. Keep the flowerpots or containers in a warm location with good light and water sparingly.
Growing
Ensure proper planting of Dahlia Bumble Rumble by waiting until after the last frost date. Monitor the weather forecast carefully for optimal conditions - avoiding excessive cold or wetness. For successful growth, plant your Dahlia when overnight temperatures are consistently reaching at least 50 degrees, ensuring that the soil in your garden has also reached this temperature.
Choosing a location
Dahlias are versatile plants that can grow well in many environments. While they prefer full sun, they can also tolerate partial shade and produce larger flowers in brighter conditions. Ideally, choose a spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight and protection from strong winds for optimal growth. It's important to note that dahlias do best in well-drained, slightly acidic soil and should not be planted in areas with standing water that persists for more than 24 hours after heavy rainfall.
Space your Bumble Rumble tubers so they have enough room for air circulation. Allow 20″-24″ between bulbs to avoid overcrowding. For best performance, plant taller varieties behind the shorter varieties so the shorter ones don’t get shaded out by the taller stalks, causing them to produce fewer and smaller blooms.
