Discover the unique Chocolate lily, native to northeastern Asia and northwestern North America. Also known as Kamchatka fritillary, this plant has a striking brown color and is prized for its starchy bulbs. It can thrive in semi-shade or no shade and has bell-shaped flowers in damp areas.

The Chocolate lily, also known as Fritillaria camschatcensis, can be found natively in northeastern Asia and northwestern North America. It can be spotted in northern Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alaska, northern Japan, and the Russian Far East, including Amur, Kamchatka, Khabarovsk, Magadan, Primorye, Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands.

It has many common names, including Kamchatka fritillary and Kamchatka lily. It is also called rice lily, northern rice-root, or "Indian rice" or "wild rice", because of the rice-like bulblets that form around its roots, skunk lily, or "chocolate lily" because of its brown color.
