SIZE: 10 BULBS

'Fancy Frills' is an award-winning fringed tulip known for its striking pink-and-white blooms with delicate, crystalline petal edges. It is also known by its cultivar name 'Dallas'. This late-blooming variety is popular for garden beds, containers, and as a cut flower.

Characteristics

  • Flowers: The ivory-white blossoms transition into a vibrant rose-pink toward the upper edges, which are decorated with fine, silvery-white fringes. The distinctive, lacy edges give the flowers a fuzzy or frosted appearance.

  • Bloom time: Late spring, extending the tulip season.

  • Size: The sturdy stems grow up to 18–20 inches tall, with flowers reaching up to 4 inches across.

  • Recognition: The cultivar has been recognized with the prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

Growing guide

  • Planting time: Plant bulbs in the fall once soil temperatures consistently drop below 55°F.

  • Location: Choose a spot with full sun and good air circulation. A protected location will help prevent wind damage to the stems.

  • Soil: Use well-drained, neutral to slightly acidic soil. Avoid soggy areas, as excess moisture can cause bulb rot.

  • Planting depth and spacing: Plant bulbs 6–8 inches deep and 4–6 inches apart. For a fuller display, plant in clusters of 10 or more.

  • Watering: Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. During dry spring periods, water as needed, but avoid overwatering.

Fertilizing: Apply a balanced bulb fertilizer when planting and again in the spring as new foliage emerges.
