Pardon Me is one of the best compact daylilies on the market. This daylily sports dark red flowers with a golden eye opening in June and blossoming periodically throughout summer. This variety is easy to grow in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade.
It is recommended to water the Daylilies immediately upon planting. Daylilies should be kept from drying out, but should also not be overwatered. Regular watering after planting may not be necessary, unless you reside in a very dry climate.
For optimal growth, Daylilies prefer heavy watering once a week over daily light watering. Keep the area around the plant free of weeds to prevent root confusion when transplanting or separating bulbs.
To maintain a clean appearance, remove dead blooms and leaves. In late fall, trim remaining dead leaves to ground level and cover the root system with mulch to protect it from freezing temperatures.
In northern climates, spring planting is recommended. In colder regions, fall planting can also be done if precautions like mulching are taken. In the south, early spring or late fall are considered the best times for planting. It should be noted that daylilies planted between July and September may rot in high humidity and temperatures over 90 degrees.
