Flowering Cabbage Pigeon Purple Seeds This flowering cabbage last along time and has been know to come back. This is round shape with wavy leaves and its outer leaves stay dark why inside is a bright color.
Ornamental Cabbage/kale look and grow very much like their close relatives of edible cabbages and kale. Although they're in the same species--Brassica oleracea--as edible varieties and you could eat them, they have been bred for looks, not flavor. Their leaves have been hybridized to feature purple, rosy, and creamy white colors, making them look more like large flowers than vegetables.
Plants with smooth leaf margins and broad, flat leaves are called flowering cabbage, while those with serrated or fringed leaf margins are considered flowering kales. (Technically, both are kales, because kales form rosettes, while cabbage forms heads.) Just like their edible cousins, ornamental cabbage and kale are cool-season biennials, meaning they grow their vegetative leaves the first year, then send up flowers the second year that produce seeds. However, they're primarily grown as an annual for their showy foliage. Ornamental cabbage and kale look especially good in a large planting or as edging plants, where their purplish hues blend in well with other fall colors. Or, use them to replace warm-weather annuals in your containers over the winter..Ornamental Cabbage (Brassica Oleracea) - Start Ornamental Cabbage seeds to create a colorful bed that is cold tolerant and easy-to-maintain. Ornamental Cabbage uses include edging the flower border or planting in containers for fall and winter interest. These Ornamental Brassica plants contain all pink, all white, or all purple centers with green outer leaves. Nothing looks more elegant or stands out more beautifully in the fall than Ornamental Brassicas.
Just start Ornamental Brassica seeds indoors, covering the flower seeds very lightly. Ornamental Cabbage seeds germinate quickly and the young plants can be transplanted. Ornamental Cabbage plants will start out green, and with time, they will begin to develop color. About 12 weeks after sowing the Ornamental Cabbage seeds, there will be a perfectly round, colorful rosette 10 inches high and 12 inches wide. These cabbages gain color quickly and are late to bolt.
