Red Acre is Open pollinated that has a mature head size of 10 -14 inches, 2-4 lb head. Plant seeds at a depth of 1/4 inch to germinate in 6-10 days. Grow as a microgreen or to full maturity.
Red Acre is a popular variety grown as microgreens and baby leaf production because it adds color and variety to any micro-mix. At a very young stage the stems have a violet color and green leaves. When grown to full maturity it is a small compact short stemmed heading plant that produces hard round deep red-purple heads 5 to 7 inches in diameter. These heads weigh from 2 to 4 pounds. Resistant to Yellows and splitting. Heads are solid in early stages and have good uniform color.

Red Acre Cabbage is a perfect addition that will provide color and texture to a salad, stir fry or coleslaw. This gorgeous deep red cabbage has a sweet flavor and solid heads form early on small, compact plants.
Red Acre is an early red cabbage that produces dense, deep purple, small round heads and a great color. It won’t split when planted in the spring, and is one of the best cabbages for winter storage when planted in the late summer for fall harvest.
Soil and Water: Cabbage prefers rich, fertile soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5. Water heavily from planting to head formation, then water moderately to prevent splitting.
Planting and Growing: Start indoors 8 weeks before last frost, or outdoors March through June. Cabbage prefers cool weather. Fast growing or stressed cabbages tend to split and bolt; cutting into the root system by transplanting will slow growth and prevent splitting. Provide transplants with cutworm shield collars.
Harvesting and Storage: Harvest when the head feels solid. Smaller heads sometimes grow from the remaining plant. Red Acre does not hold on the plant well, but it can be stored if it is picked when the head is firm and hasn't lost any color.
