Pack options
Choose 1,000 seeds, 1 oz, 4 oz, 1 lb, 4 lb, or 10 lb. One cart quantity purchases one selected pack. Weight-based packs are sold by weight rather than a guaranteed seed count. This listing is for seeds to grow, not harvested greens, live plants, or a sprouting kit. There is no separate color option.
Sprouts versus microgreens
- Sprouts: grown using a dedicated sprouter and harvested as young germinated seedlings, generally including roots.
- Microgreens: grown on a suitable medium, exposed to light, and cut above the growing surface, leaving roots and medium behind.
The previous listing estimated approximately 5–10 days for young greens. Use this as a rough guide, not a guaranteed harvest time. Growing method, temperature, light, and desired size affect readiness. Indoor growing may be possible throughout the year with suitable conditions; outdoor production depends on climate.
Before growing
Follow the seed packet's instructions and confirm that the supplied seed is intended for your chosen edible sprout or microgreen use. Do not substitute treated garden seed. Wash hands and clean equipment, utensils, and work surfaces. Use potable water and keep the growing area separate from raw meat and other contamination sources.
Tray-grown microgreens
- Use a clean tray with drainage and a fresh growing medium intended for edible crops.
- Moisten the medium, distribute seeds evenly, and avoid thick piles that trap moisture.
- Follow packet guidance for covering during germination, then provide suitable light after emergence.
- Keep evenly moist, not saturated, with good airflow.
- Harvest when leaves and stems reach a useful size, using clean scissors to cut above the medium.
Do not clip into the soil or growing mat. Seedlings harvested young may be approximately 1–2 inches tall, while older baby greens are larger and need more growing space and time. Harvest stage matters more than a fixed height or calendar date.
Growing sprouts
Use a sprouter designed for edible seeds and follow its instructions together with the packet directions. The former listing suggested soaking for approximately 4–6 hours; follow any more specific instructions supplied with your batch. Drain completely and rinse at the recommended intervals, preventing standing water while maintaining moisture and ventilation.
Keep away from hot direct sun. Do not apply the old radish harvest timing to broccoli. Assess growth according to the broccoli seed and equipment guidance, remembering that germination or appearance alone cannot establish food safety.
Important food-safety guidance
Warm, moist sprouting conditions can support harmful bacteria. Washing and rinsing do not eliminate this risk. Children, older adults, pregnant people, and people with weakened immune systems should avoid raw or lightly cooked sprouts. Thorough cooking reduces the risk associated with sprouts.
Discard growth that becomes slimy, smells unpleasant, or shows suspected mold. Normal appearance and smell do not establish that sprouts are free of harmful bacteria. Clean the sprouter thoroughly between batches, and do not reuse dirty growing medium.
Harvest, storage, and kitchen use
Handle harvested greens with clean hands and equipment and refrigerate promptly. Use while fresh, keep away from raw meat, and discard deteriorating produce. Do not rely on a fixed storage period as a safety guarantee.
Use microgreens as a garnish for suitable dishes, following safe produce-handling practices. Choose thoroughly cooked dishes for sprouts rather than adding them only as a raw topping or briefly warming them. Store unused dry seeds sealed in a cool, dry place according to the packet directions.
