Why choose one color when you can have them all? The Dutch Iris Mix brings together a curated blend of clear, beautiful iris colors — blues, purples, yellows, and whites — on long, strong, straight stems that are perfectly sized for cutting. A favorite of florists and home gardeners alike, this mix delivers an abundant supply of fresh flowers all season long, and the compact, upright habit fits beautifully in borders and containers. It even attracts butterflies and hummingbirds!

Plant Details

  • Colors: Mixed — blues, purples, yellows, whites
  • Flowering Period: Late spring / early summer
  • Exposure: Full sun
  • Habit: Compact, upright — great for borders and containers
  • Attracts: Butterflies and hummingbirds
  • Best Use: Mixed borders, cutting gardens, containers, gifts

Planting Instructions

  • Plant in fall for late spring / early summer blooms.
  • Choose a full sun site with well-draining soil. Amend with compost, peat moss, or ground bark if drainage is poor.
  • Plant bulbs 4" deep and 3" apart, pointed end up.
  • Water well after planting to settle the soil around each bulb.
  • In warmer climates, foliage emerges in fall; flowers follow in spring. In colder regions, both emerge after winter ends.

After Bloom Care

  • Cut flowers freely for mixed bouquets — the varied colors make stunning, effortless arrangements.
  • Leave foliage in place after blooming to recharge bulbs for next season.
  • Water about 1" per week during active growth.
  • Allow leaves to yellow and die back naturally in summer, then tidy up spent foliage.
  • Bulbs are perennial and will return year after year.

Container Growing

Plant in large containers with quality, well-draining potting mix. Ensure adequate drainage holes. Space 2–3" apart at 4" depth. The mix of colors creates a gorgeous patio or balcony display, and freshly cut stems make easy gifts for friends and neighbors.
