Variety details
- Open-pollinated heirloom tomato
- Annual vegetable crop
- Listed maturity: approximately 75 days; timing varies with growing conditions
- Listed plant height: approximately 72–120 inches
- Recommended plant spacing: 30–36 inches
Starting from seed
Start seeds indoors before your last frost, sowing approximately ¼ inch deep in seed-starting mix. Keep the mix evenly moist and provide good light once seedlings emerge. Gradually harden seedlings off before transplanting into the garden after frost danger has passed.
Growing and care
Choose a sunny location with fertile, well-drained soil. Space plants 30–36 inches apart and provide a sturdy cage or trellis for their tall growth. Water consistently at soil level, avoiding prolonged waterlogging.
Harvest and culinary uses
Pick fruit when fully ripe and red. Enjoy cherry tomatoes fresh in salads, on appetizer platters or as garden snacks.
Saving seed
Use fully ripe fruit from healthy plants for seed saving. Follow a tomato seed-cleaning and fermentation method, then dry the cleaned seeds thoroughly before storing in a cool, dry place. Keep varieties separated when maintaining a seed line.
