Antirrhinum majus maximum 'Snowflake' is a tall, graceful white snapdragon that produces upright 36-inch spikes of pure white, distinctly lipped blooms from spring through fall. Light frost tolerant and a reliable self-resower in many zones, Snowflake behaves like a perennial in mild climates — returning year after year from dropped seed — while performing as a dependable annual wherever winters are cold. A classic florist-quality cut flower and cottage garden staple; deer resistant.

Plant Highlights

  • Pure white blooms on tall 36-inch spikes; spring through fall
  • Light frost tolerant — set out early; one of the first spring flowers
  • Self-resows readily; acts like a perennial in mild climates
  • Excellent cut flower; long-lasting in the vase
  • Deer resistant; attracts pollinators

Growing Guide

Starting indoors: Sow 6–8 weeks before transplanting. Surface-sow on pre-moistened quality starter mix and press seeds in gently — do not cover; seeds need light to germinate. Harden off for 10–14 days before planting out. Pinch back at transplant to encourage branching.

Mild-winter areas: Sow outdoors in a sheltered seedbed in late summer for winter and spring blooms.

Site & soil: Full sun; rich, moist, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Add organic matter at planting. Trim plants after the first bloom flush to promote a second flush of blooms.
