Growing Guide

Starting indoors: Sow 10โ€“12 weeks before the last frost date. Seeds are extremely tiny โ€” press gently onto the moist soil surface without covering; seeds need light to germinate. Keep soil consistently wet. Placing trays on top of a refrigerator provides the steady warmth that boosts germination. Keep at 72โ€“76ยฐF; germination in 7โ€“14 days.

Transplanting: Five to six weeks after sowing, transplant seedlings into 3-inch pots and grow on in cooler temperatures with plenty of light. Harden off for 10โ€“14 days before planting out after the last frost. Pinch back young plants when setting out to encourage branching and a fuller habit.

Site & soil: Full sun to partial shade; well-drained soil, pH 5.6โ€“6.6.

Ongoing care: Deadhead faded flowers regularly for best display and to keep plants full of color all season. Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2โ€“3 weeks.
