Flame-Colored Flowers for Your Spring Garden
Banja Luka Darwin Hybrid tulips bring bold yellow petals streaked with red and orange-red tones to beds and borders. Their large, showy blooms make a colorful focal point along a walkway or in a grouped planting, and are equally striking in a spring bouquet.
Plant a cluster in fall and look forward to warm, flame-like color when spring arrives. Pair with daffodils or muscari for contrast, or reserve a small patch for cutting flowers to enjoy indoors.
What You Are Ordering

- Type: Darwin Hybrid tulip, not a parrot tulip.
- Pack options: Choose 10 or 25 bulbs from the available sizes.
- Flower color: Yellow with red and orange-red streaks.
- Season: Spring flowering from fall-planted bulbs; timing varies with climate and weather.
Where to Plant
Choose full sun to light shade and well-drained soil. Use in flower beds, borders, cutting gardens, or generously sized containers with drainage holes. Avoid low spots where water remains after rain.
Fall Planting Instructions
- Prepare loose, well-drained soil before planting in fall.
- Place bulbs pointed end upward, with the base approximately 6–7 inches deep.
- Space about 5 inches apart in garden beds, or around 4 inches apart in containers.
- Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. During active growth, water as needed without keeping the soil waterlogged.
Tulips need a winter chilling period to flower. In warm-winter climates, obtain locally appropriate chilling and planting guidance before planting.
Flowering and Aftercare
Enjoy the flowers in the garden or cut a few stems for indoor arrangements. After blooming, remove spent flower heads and leave green foliage intact until it yellows and dies back naturally. The leaves help replenish the bulbs for future growth.
Reduce supplemental watering during dormancy and avoid persistently wet summer soil. Repeat flowering depends on winter chilling, drainage, and overall growing conditions; a spring display does not guarantee identical results every year.
Protecting Your Planting
Tulips are not deer-resistant. Deer may browse foliage and flowers, while squirrels, voles, and other small mammals may disturb or eat bulbs. Use suitable protection where these animals are active.
Ornamental use only: Do not eat tulip bulbs or other plant parts. Keep bulbs away from children and pets; tulips are toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
