Seadov Tulip Bulbs – Single Early | Deep Velvety Red | Fall Planting

Seadov is the quintessential red tulip — bold, elegant, and breathtaking in the early spring garden. Its deep, velvety red blooms sit atop tall, sturdy stems (14–18 inches), making it a standout whether planted en masse in a bed, clustered in containers, or cut for spring arrangements. Deer, rabbit, and rodent resistant. Naturalizes and returns year after year in Zones 3–7; treat as an annual in warmer zones (8+). Plant bulbs in fall for a stunning early-to-mid-spring display. Bulbs ship at the optimal time for fall planting in your region — plant promptly upon arrival.

Planting in Garden Beds

Choose a location with well-draining soil — avoid areas where water pools for more than a few hours after rain. Plant bulbs pointed end up, 6–7 inches deep and 5 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil. Roots will develop through autumn; foliage and blooms will emerge in spring.

After blooming, allow the foliage to die back naturally — the leaves gather sunlight and replenish the bulb for the following season. Once the foliage has yellowed completely, it can be removed. In Zones 3–7, bulbs will naturalize and return year after year.

Planting in Containers

Use containers with excellent drainage and quality potting mix. Plant bulbs 4 inches apart and 6–7 inches deep. Place in a sunny to lightly shaded location. Water once after planting and resume when growth appears in spring. Allow foliage to die back naturally after blooming.

Care Tips

  • Water approximately 1 inch per week during active growth
  • Withhold water when bulbs are dormant in summer
  • Deer, rabbit, and rodent resistant — one of the lower-maintenance spring bulbs for wildlife-pressure gardens
  • Excellent cut flower — harvest stems when buds are just starting to open; they will continue to open in the vase
  • For best naturalization, plant in fall and avoid disturbing the bulbs during summer dormancy
