Planting Guide (Outdoor Beds)

Location: Full sun preferred; a little afternoon shade tolerated in the hottest areas. Well-drained soil essential — hyacinths will not survive in soggy soil or standing water. If drainage is poor, amend with compost, peat moss, or ground bark to raise the bed 2–3 inches.

Depth & spacing: Plant bulbs 7–8 inches deep, 6 inches apart, pointed end up. Bulbs are round, larger than a golf ball, with papery skins.

After planting: Water well to settle soil around the bulbs. Roots form in autumn; blooms emerge in spring.
