Bring classic white trumpets and a sweet fragrance to your garden or containers with Nellie White Easter lily. These lilies create an elegant focal point among lower-growing plants and provide striking flowers for arrangements.

What you receive

3 Easter lily bulbs, not seeds or a flowering potted plant. Nellie White is an Easter lily selection grown for its white, fragrant blooms and suitability for controlled forcing.

Plant details

  • Plant: Easter lily, Nellie White (Lilium longiflorum)
  • Flower color: White
  • Fragrance: Sweet and pronounced
  • Growth: Herbaceous perennial bulb
  • Light: Sun to partial shade
  • Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost
  • Uses: Garden borders, large containers, cut flowers, and controlled forcing

Planting your bulbs

Plant promptly in well-drained soil with the pointed end facing upward. Set bulbs approximately three times their height deep, measuring from the soil surface to the base of the bulb. Choose a location with good light and protection from waterlogged conditions.

For containers, use a deep pot with drainage holes and a free-draining potting mix. Water after planting, then maintain moderate moisture as growth develops. Low-growing companions or a light mulch can help keep the root zone cool without burying emerging stems.

Care and flowering

Water at soil level when needed, avoiding standing water around the bulbs. Support stems if exposed to wind. Remove faded flowers, but allow the leaves and stems to remain until they yellow naturally so the bulbs can replenish their reserves.

When cutting flowers, take no more than one-third of the stem and leave plenty of foliage on the plant. Outdoor bloom timing depends on climate and planting conditions and should not be assumed to coincide with Easter.

A note on Easter forcing

Producing flowers for a specific holiday requires a controlled cooling, temperature, and growing schedule. Bulbs are suitable for forcing, but Easter flowering is not guaranteed under ordinary home or garden conditions.

Important pet safety

True lilies are highly toxic to cats. Keep bulbs, plants, flowers, pollen, and vase water away from cats. If exposure is suspected, seek veterinary care immediately. These bulbs are for ornamental planting, not consumption.
