A delicious, heirloom lima saved for generations in Alabama. Can be used as a dry bean or as a green shell bean or butterbean. Technically a lima bean, but commonly called butterbean in the South. Requires a strong trellis as the vines are vigorous and tall. Very productive in hot summers. Tolerates drought well. Extremely hard to find. 90-100 days.
This crop can be direct seeded into warm soil after the last spring frost. If you sow a section or row every two or three weeks, you can get a continuous crop.
Space your seeds 2-4 inches apart in well fertilized soil. Plant your seeds around 1 inch deep.
