Dwarf Grey Sugar pea preferred for both taste and tenderness. Attractive purple flowers precede small, sweet slender pods on this small plant that only grows to 76-90cm (30-36") tall. The leaves and stems have a slight red tint, and are great for garnishes or in salads.
The Dwarf Grey is a variety of snow pea distinguished by its tender pods and colorful flowers and foliage. Unlike many other pea varieties, it tender pods exhibits red or purple flowers, purple-gray-tinged leaves and hints of red throughout the plant. Plants reach just 2 to 3 feet in height and are considered a dwarf type; edible pods will reach 2 to 3 inches long. Monitor the pods for readiness once they're almost at that size.
This is probably the most widely grown bush green bean. Known for the abundance of smooth, round meaty pods, this snap bean is delicious eaten fresh and also great for canning and freezing. These bush beans are small, self-supporting plants which produce for three weeks or more.
Beans enrich the soil with nitrogen for heavy nitrogen users like corn and grains. Plant beans with carrots, celery, chards, corn, eggplant, peas, potatoes, brassica (mustard family), beets, radishes, strawberries and cucumbers. Keep your beans away from alliums.
Culinary tips:
Edible podded peas can be steamed, stir-fried, added to soups, and fresh to salads. The young pea shoot-tips and leaves have similar pea flavor and are delicious stir-fried with garlic.
