Lavender PROVENCE is a perennial herb featuring a pleasing, delicate aroma. It is the ideal plant for adding a calming, fragrant touch to your garden. Its vibrant purple hue lends an attractive visual appeal to flower beds, borders and edging. The Lavender PROVENCE live starter plant is a great way to add a classic feature to your garden.
Lavender will flower naturally as the summer starts to heat up and the ground dries out from the spring rains. In our area we see lavender reach it's peak bloom period in late June or early July.
Lavender (Lavendula spp.) is a well-known and fragrant perennial plant that will come back every year with gray-green foliage, upright flower spikes, and a compact shrub form. Planting lavender is best in the spring after the risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up. It will grow at a moderate pace, often adding a few inches to its size each year.
Space lavender plants 12 to 18 inches apart in an area with plenty of sunlight and sandy, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.7 to 7.3. Give young plants an excellent start to the growing season by mixing in several inches of compost or other rich organic matter into your native soil.
