Aubrieta Pale Blue - Deer Resistant, ground cover plant, perennial
Rock Cress (Aubrieta Hybrida Graeca Pale Blue) - Start these Aubrieta seeds to grow this lovely little treasured ground cover plant. Commonly known as Rock Cress, this Aubrieta perennial plant creates a carpet-like mat that produces an abundance of light blue flowers in the spring. Aubrieta plants are low-growing, only reaching about 4 inches in height, but they can spread up to 24 inches making them very desired as a ground cover plant. In the hottest climates, Aubrieta Rock Cress performs best with some afternoon shade.
Rock Cress Aubrieta seeds can be started indoors or outdoors. For indoor sowing, start the Rock Cress seeds 6 â 8 weeks before the last frost. Press the ground cover seed into a good quality starter mix and cover it lightly. Maintain moisture until germination occurs. Transplant the Aubrieta plants into the garden after frost danger has passed. For outdoor sowing, after frost danger is over, prepare a seedbed by loosening the top 2 â 3 inches of soil and weeding. Sow the Aubrieta seeds, lightly covering them, and keep the ground cover seed moist until germination.
