Yellow Bush Daisy – Euryops pectinatus ‘Sonnenschein’ | Live Plants
Yellow Bush Daisy (Euryops pectinatus ‘Sonnenschein’), also known as Golden Euryops or African Bush Daisy, is a vigorous, free-flowering tender perennial shrub native to South Africa that brings an almost uninterrupted cascade of bright, cheerful yellow daisy flowers to the garden. The Sonnenschein selection offers a more compact, tidy habit and superior flower production compared to the standard African Bush Daisy — reaching 24–28 inches tall and spreading 36–48 inches wide, with finely cut, silvery-green aromatic foliage that sets off the golden blooms beautifully.
In warm climates (USDA Zones 9–11), Euryops is an evergreen perennial that flowers nearly year-round with minimal care. In cooler zones, it performs as a long-blooming annual, typically flowering from June through November before frost. A fast grower that establishes quickly and rewards with exceptional color over a very long season. Deer resistant and highly attractive to bees and butterflies.

Planting Guide
- Site: Full sun is essential for maximum flowering. Euryops will bloom in partial sun but flowering is reduced.
- Soil: Well-draining soil of any type — tolerates poor and sandy soils. Avoid heavy, waterlogged ground.
- Planting: Dig a hole wide enough to accommodate the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant so the crown (where roots meet stem) sits 1–2 inches below the soil surface. Backfill and water thoroughly.
- Spacing: Space plants 24–36 inches apart for mass plantings; allow full spread for specimen or container use.
- Watering: Moderate water requirements once established. Water deeply but infrequently — Euryops tolerates some drought and dislikes consistently wet soil.
Care & Maintenance
- Deadheading: Remove spent flowers regularly to promote continuous re-bloom and maintain a tidy appearance.
- Fertilizing: Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring and again mid-season to support vigorous growth and abundant flowering.
- Pruning: Cut back lightly after heavy flowering flushes to encourage fresh growth and keep the plant compact.
- Overwintering: In Zones 8 and below, bring containers indoors before first frost or treat as an annual and replant each spring.
