Astilbe is a sought-after option for shady gardens, thriving in nutrient-rich, moist soil and with consistent watering. This tall, late-blooming cultivar boasts stunning magenta-purple plumes above a mound of delicate, elegant green leaves. It also does well in containers and is great for cut arrangements. Seed heads can be removed or left for winter appeal. For optimal growth, fertilize in April and June and divide every 2-3 years in early spring. It can even tolerate full sun in cooler climates.
Enhance shaded areas with Astilbe Mixed. A mix of vibrant colors, including red, pink, and white, makes it perfect for borders, beds, and containers. Blooming in summer, its plumes bring beauty to the garden and bouquets. With lacy, green foliage, it thrives in moist, shaded soil.
Planting Instructions: May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly.
Pests or Diseases: Slug resistant, deer resistant, resistant to walnut toxicity. Bothered by Japanese beetles and spider mites.
