This variety of raspberries is well-known for its ability to thrive in challenging conditions, making it an easy choice for any gardener. It produces medium to large-sized berries and is favored by both commercial and home growers.
When planting Latham raspberry plants, it is important to properly prepare the roots. Soak them in water overnight before planting, and make sure the crown of the plant is positioned slightly above ground level. After the plants have fruited, prune the canes back to the ground to promote new growth.
To achieve optimal growth, plant the raspberry plants 2 to 3 feet apart in rows that are 3 to 5 feet apart. Ensure the plants are in well-tilled, weed-free soil with a pH of 6.5-7 and in a sunny spot. To maintain healthy canes, it is also recommended to prune back suckers and eliminate any tangling.
