also known as Japanese sweet potatoes or Japanese yams,

Sweet potatoes, or Ipomoea batatas, originated in Central or South America and have been cultivated by humans for over 5000 years. Today, there are over 400 strains of sweet potato grown around the world. Different parts of the plant, such as the leaves, stems and root tubers, are used for food, medicine and animal feed

Satsuma-imo, or Japanese sweet potato, is a sweet, yellow-fleshed strain. Traditionally grown in Japan and Okinawa, it is now available at grocery stores across North America. It is a staple food of the Okinawans, who are some of the healthiest and longest-lived people on Earth. Their good health and long lifespan are attributed, in part, to their diet

Nutty and mild, Japanese sweet potatoes have a thin red skin and dense Yellow flesh. They are a bit drier and more sweeter than the red skin white flesh vegetable you may also know as a yam or sweet potato. Often baked, candied or made into pies, they also make a delicious side dish when scalloped with sliced apples and a creamy sauce.
How we grow
I have started Japanese sweet potatoes,half-whiskey barrel containers.
I got just as much yield from the container as I did from a Raised Bed, but it was so much easier to harvest the Sweet Potatoes in the container. It would take me a over an hour to dig up the Raised Bed and find all of the Sweet Potatoes. With the container, all I had to do was to dump the container onto some newspapers and the Sweet Potatoes would just appear. No digging. No hunting.
Before you plant sweet potato slips, you have a little extra work to do. Sweet potatoes need loose, well-drained soil to form large tubers. You don't want the roots to face resistance when they try to expand within the soil. Loose soil is more critical than almost any other factor when it comes to growing sweet potatoes successfully.

Excellent!

Received promptly once the season for these came about. Orders these months earlier as I wanted to be sure to snag these. They arrived safely and in good condition. They just made it to their outside home yesterday, after a few weeks inside in the greenhouse. Happy happy! I will be a repeat customer! Thank you, Caribbean Garden Seed!!

Back ordered but no big deal

Did not receive my sweet potato slips, so can not review them, which is not necessarily bad since I won’t be able to plant them until late spring. This company should think about the proper planting/shipping dates for areas across the US.

I can’t review what I never received.

Almost 2 months and I have not received my item. No apologies, no corespondents. Very disappointed.
