Chionodoxa Lucilea Bulbs, ,Self-seed freely under trees or shrubs.
These low-growing bulbous plants bring cheer to the early spring with their masses of heavenly blue flowers. Extremely easy going, they will naturalize with ease and may even self-seed to a certain extent. Height 4-6 Inches. Bulb size: 5/+ cm.
Chionodoxa self-seed freely under trees or shrubs and are one of the earliest bulbs to bloom in the Spring. They are excellent for rock gardens, in the front of raised beds or they can be forced indoors. Excellent naturalizers!

Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Plant bulbs 3' deep and 2' apart in fall. Naturalizes easily by bulb offsets and self seeding to form a carpet of early spring bloom. Foliage begins to fade shortly after bloom and generally disappears by late spring as plants go into dormancy.

Glory-of-the-snow is so named because it is among the first bulbs to bloom in the spring. Each bulb produces 2-3 narrow, basal leaves and a flower stalk to 6' tall which is topped in very early spring by 3-6 star-like, upward facing, six-petaled, soft violet-blue flowers with white centers.
How to grow Chionodoxa Bulbs:

1. In the Fall, choose a spot that is somewhat sunny and has reasonably well-draining soil.

2. Planting chionodoxa bulbs is fairly simple. Bulbs look much like a small onion, with wiry roots growing out of one site and a spike on the other. Plant with the roots pointing down and the spike pointing up.

3. Follow the rule of thumb when planting bulbs and give the bulbs at least 2 times their height of soil above them. Dig a 3-4 inch deep hole, drop the bulb into it and cover with soil.

4. Regarding the spacing between bulbs, if planting in beds, leave approx 3 inches between each cluster of bulb. If you are planting in containers, you can space them a little closer together.

5. After planting, water well so that the soil above the bulbs settles.

6. Chionodoxa bulbs will flower in the Spring. After the flowers die down, the plant can enjoy a warmer rest period. You don't have to water too much during this rest period. Leaves will also die back and at this point, you can choose to tidy up the plant and remove the old leaves or just let nature take its own course.
