The Malawi Birds Eye Chili (Capsicum Frutescens) originates from Malawi, located in southeast Africa. While there are multiple types of chili peppers known as "Birds Eye," it should be noted that the African variation differs from the longer Thai and Indian versions. The African Birds Eye peppers are also commonly referred to as Peri Peri, meaning "pepper pepper" in Swahili. The pods are generally tapered to a blunt point, start green and ripen to a fiery red .
