Umaina Japanese Chard – Beta vulgaris var. cicla

Umaina is an exceptional Japanese variety of silverbeet/chard — broad, deep green, slightly savoyed leaves with short, pale green midribs that are sweet, succulent, and tender from root to tip. Unlike many chard varieties that bolt quickly in heat, Umaina is very slow to bolt, withstands both hot and cold growing conditions, and overwinters well in mild climates. It's one of the most adaptable leafy greens for year-round kitchen gardening.

Known across Asia as Fudanso or Tojisa (Japan), Tian Cai (China), and Daun Bit (Malaysia), Umaina is a beloved multi-season green suitable for fresh markets and home gardens alike.
