Fill the bowl half with compost and place the bulbs within the pot and cover with the remaining compost so that the noses of the bulbs are just below the surface. Place the pot in a dark, cool spot at a temperature between 40 degrees F. and 50 degrees F. check them once a week and water slightly. When the bulbs are well rooted and the buds are 2-4" high (approximately after 10 weeks), you may bring the pot into a a light an warm room for blooming. After blooming the bulbs can be planted outside to be enjoyed for years.
Blooming
Crocus bulbs are ready to leave the cold environment when healthy roots are visible through the drainage hole. Place the pot in a cool room where the bulbs are exposed to indirect light and temperatures between 60 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. When you can see the color of the buds, move the pot into the room where you want to display the bulbs. Keep the pot in indirect light, and continue to keep the potting medium moist. Moving the pot into a cooler room at night prolongs the life of the blooms.
