Planting Guide

• When to plant: Spring, after danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed.
• Location: Choose a mostly sunny spot with good drainage — gladiolus do not tolerate soggy or waterlogged soil.
• Planting depth: Dig a 6–7" hole. Plant corm with the spike or pointed end facing up. Cover with soil.
• Spacing: 6–8" apart in beds; can be clustered slightly closer in containers.
• Watering: Water well after planting. During active growth, aim for 1" of water per week via deep watering rather than frequent light sprinkling.
• After blooming: Allow foliage to die back naturally so the corm can store energy for the next season.

Overwintering

• Zones 7–10 (mild winters): Leave corms in the ground for the next growing cycle.
• Zones 3–6 (cold winters): Lift corms before first frost. Cut stems back to 1–2" above the corm. Store in a cool, dark, dry location until spring.

Tips for Best Display

• Plant in groups of 10 or more for the most impactful color display.
• Stagger plantings every 2 weeks from spring through early summer for continuous blooms.
• Stake tall stems in windy locations to prevent flopping.
