Growing Guide
Planting Season: Early spring (4-6 weeks before last frost) or late summer/early fall for a fall harvest.
Starting from Seed: Prepare soil with compost or organic matter. Direct sow seeds 1/2 inch deep and 12 inches apart in rows 12 inches apart. Seeds germinate in about 10 days. For fall crops, direct sow in July.
Care: Plant in full sun to partial shade in temperatures from 45-75°F. Keep soil evenly moist for healthiest growth. In prolonged heat, provide shade to prevent bolting (going to seed prematurely).
Harvesting: Harvest individual leaves or the entire plant. Pick baby leaves as early as 21 days for tender greens, or wait 40 days for fully mature loose heads.
