Purple Orach, also known as "Mountain Spinach", is a USDA Certified Organic alternative to traditional spinach. With deep purple leaves and a flavor similar to spinach, it is highly heat tolerant and provides a unique twist to your dishes.
While most plants are colorful, expect a small percentage to be solid green. It serves as a rich source of Vitamin A, making it a flavorful and nutritious addition to any dish. This versatile plant can be enjoyed both raw and cooked, and adapts well to various environments.
Culinary Uses :Purple Orach, which is also called "Mountain Spinach" can be cooked as an alternative to spinach while providing a less bitter and more savory flavor similar to collard greens. You can also add fresh leaves of orach to salads, such as a feta, cranberry and vinaigrette salad.
Medicinal Uses : The herbaceous qualities of Purple Orach's smooth 2" leaves have long been utilized for their soothing effects on anxiety and fatigue. Infusing these leaves in a warm floral tea allows for optimal extraction and delivery of the plant's beneficial properties.

Grow beautiful edible landscape with Orach (Atriplex Hortensis) seeds. This annual herb plant, also known as Garden Orache, Red Orach, Mountain Spinach, or French Spinach, grows up to 72 inches tall and has tangy, thin leaves. It is a cool season plant that does not bolt quickly and can be harvested throughout the summer for salads or cooking. Its Red Plume variety is prized for its ornamental red coloring.
How To Grow Red Orach: Red Orach is an annual herb suitable for full sun. Sow the Orach seeds in the spring as early as the soil can be worked. Thinly cover the herb seeds and keep them moist. Sow the seeds 2 inches apart and in rows 12 to 18 inches apart. Thin the young plants when they are 6 inches in height, leaving 12 to 18 inches for spacing. The thinned plants can be eaten. Harvest the young leaves like spinach.
