Chilean Jasmine Seeds – Mandevilla laxa
Also known as: Chilean Jasmine, White Mandevilla
Close your eyes and imagine a warm summer evening, a pergola draped in lush green vines, and the air filled with the sweet, intoxicating fragrance of pure white trumpet flowers. That’s the everyday magic of Mandevilla laxa — the Chilean Jasmine. Native to the Andes of South America, this vigorous, twining climber is one of the most fragrant vines you can grow, producing clusters of elegant white blooms from summer through fall that perfume an entire garden.
Fast-growing and surprisingly easy to cultivate, Chilean Jasmine is perfect for trellises, fences, pergolas, and arbors. Hardy in USDA Zones 8–11, it can also be grown in containers and overwintered indoors in cooler climates.

How to Germinate
Step 1 – Pre-soak: Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat and improve germination rates.
Step 2 – Sow: Fill small pots or seed trays with a well-draining seed-starting mix. Sow seeds ¼ inch (6 mm) deep. Lightly firm the soil and water gently.
Step 3 – Warmth & humidity: Place pots in a warm location with temperatures of 70–80°F (21–27°C). Cover with a plastic dome or bag to retain humidity until germination.
Step 4 – Germination: Expect seedlings in 14–30 days. Once sprouted, remove the cover and move to a bright, sunny spot.
Step 5 – Transplant: When seedlings are 3–4 inches tall and all frost risk has passed, transplant outdoors near a trellis or support structure. Space plants 18–24 inches apart.
