Growing Guide
Starting indoors: Sow 6–8 weeks before planting out. Sow into trays with quality starter mix and cover lightly with peat moss. Shade trays as darkness aids germination. Keep moist. Once seedlings emerge, move to a cool, bright location.
Harden off: Gradually acclimate plants before planting outdoors. Pansies tolerate light frost and can be set out up to a month before the last frost date.
Timing for fall: Set out established plants 3–4 weeks before the first hard frost for best rooting and fall bloom.
Site and soil: Full sun to partial shade; well-drained soil, pH 5.8–6.8. Space 8 inches apart. Deadhead spent blooms to keep plants tidy and producing. Twelve weeks from seeding to bloom.
