Size: 10 ROOTS
VARIETY: ALBION

Grow strawberries for fresh picking with your choice of Albion, Seascape, or a mixed-variety pack. Whether you are starting a sunny strawberry bed or adding to an established patch, these planting roots let you choose the variety and quantity that fit your garden.

Choose Your Pack

  • Albion: Known for large, mostly conical berries with a deep red color. Consistent watering and nutrition support plant growth and fruit development.
  • Seascape: Produces flavorful berries, with summer and autumn harvests described for Northeastern growing conditions. Pick at full ripeness for the best flavor.
  • Mixed variety: Choose this option for a mixed-variety planting. A specific variety ratio is not stated.
  • Pack sizes: 10 or 25 roots, available in each variety option. This listing is for planting roots, not seeds.

Planting Your Strawberry Roots

Choose a sunny location with loose, well-drained soil and work in compost or well-aged manure before planting. Prepare the bed by removing weeds. Keep roots cool and moist until planting, without leaving them standing in water.

Spread the roots in the planting hole and position the crown at soil level. Cover the roots without burying the crown, then water thoroughly. Space plants approximately 12 inches apart, allowing additional room where needed for vigorous growth and access at harvest.

Watering and Seasonal Care

Keep the soil evenly moist rather than waterlogged, especially while roots establish and fruit develops. Water at soil level and keep weeds under control. Feed according to the fertilizer label, adjusting care to your soil and growing conditions.

Removing early flowers can encourage newly planted roots to focus on establishment, though it delays the first harvest. In cold climates, use straw mulch for winter protection and pull it back as spring growth resumes.

Harvesting

Pick strawberries when fully colored and ripe, and enjoy them fresh from the garden or use them in your favorite preserves. Harvest timing, fruit size, and yield vary with the selected variety, climate, weather, and plant establishment.
