What You Receive

  • Ozark Beauty strawberry roots for planting, not seeds.
  • Choose a pack of 10, 25, or 100 roots.

Variety and Growing Details

  • Bearing habit: Everbearing; harvest timing and repeat production depend on climate and plant establishment.
  • Fruit: Scarlet-red, flavorful berries with a semi-firm texture.
  • Uses: Fresh eating, preserves, freezing, and desserts.
  • Pollination: Self-pollinating.
  • Sunlight: Full sun, at least 6 hours daily.
  • Soil: Loose, well-drained soil enriched with compost.
  • Winter hardiness: USDA zones 3–7.

Planting Strawberry Roots

Keep roots cool and moist until planting, without leaving them standing in water. Prepare a weed-free bed and incorporate compost to improve soil structure. Space plants approximately 12 inches apart.

Spread the roots into the planting hole and position the crown at soil level. Cover the roots without burying the crown, then water thoroughly.

Seasonal Care

Maintain evenly moist soil, especially while plants establish and develop fruit. Water at soil level and keep weeds under control. Feed at transplanting and again in spring according to the fertilizer label.

Removing early flowers can encourage newly planted roots to focus on establishment, though it delays the first harvest. Where winter protection is needed, cover the bed with straw mulch and pull it back as spring growth resumes.

Harvest and Enjoy

Pick berries when fully red and ripe. Enjoy them fresh or preserve part of your harvest for jams, frozen desserts, and other recipes. Yield and harvest duration vary with weather, growing conditions, and care.
