Size: 10 BULBS

Ruffled Fuchsia-Pink Flowers for Borders and Bouquets

The Admiral anemone (Anemone coronaria 'The Admiral'), also called poppy anemone or windflower, produces double fuchsia-pink flowers above ferny foliage. Layers of narrow, ruffled petals give the blooms a full, textured appearance that stands out in containers and garden borders.

Plant a group near a walkway to enjoy the intricate petals up close, or grow a small cutting patch for colorful vase arrangements. Its compact stature makes it an appealing accent at the front of a flower bed.

What You Are Ordering

  • Product: The Admiral anemone corms for planting, commonly sold as bulbs; not seeds or flowering potted plants.
  • Pack options: Choose 10, 25, or 100 corms. The size selector labels these packs as bulbs.
  • Botanical name: Anemone coronaria 'The Admiral'.
  • Flower color: Fuchsia pink.
  • Flower form: Double, with layered, ruffled petals.
  • Typical height: Approximately 10–12 inches, depending on growing conditions.

Planting Season and Location

Choose full sun to partial shade and fertile, well-drained soil. Planting time depends on climate: fall planting may suit mild-winter areas with appropriate protection, while colder regions generally use spring planting after severe cold has passed. Protect emerging growth from hard freezes.

Spring flowering is typical of suitable fall-planted crops. Bloom timing varies with planting date and local weather. These corms are not reliably winter-hardy in every climate.

How to Plant

  • Soak corms in lukewarm water for a few hours before planting, following any specific instructions supplied with your stock.
  • Plant approximately 3–5 cm (1–2 inches) deep.
  • Space at least 4 inches apart, allowing room for foliage and airflow.
  • Water after planting to settle the soil and keep evenly moist during active growth, without leaving the ground saturated.
  • For containers, use a freely draining potting mix and pots with drainage holes.

After Flowering

Remove spent flowers and leave green foliage intact until it yellows and dies back naturally. Reduce watering during dormancy and avoid persistently wet conditions, which can cause corms to rot.

Where winters are too cold, lift dormant corms and store them in a cool, dry, frost-free place, or grow as seasonal flowers. Return flowering and multiplication depend on climate and care; rapid spreading is not guaranteed.

Ornamental Use Only

Do not eat corms or other plant parts. Anemones can be harmful if ingested, and sap may irritate skin. Wear gloves if sensitive and keep plants and planting stock away from children and pets.
