Collection Highlights
- Leaf type: Fancy leaf — large, heart-shaped
- Colors: Mixed — splashes of red, white, pink, and green
- Height: 12–14 inches
- Light: Filtered sun to partial or full shade
- USDA Zones: 9–11 (lift tubers in fall in colder zones)
- Great for: Containers, hanging baskets, shaded borders, mixed beds, indoor display
- Pairs beautifully with: Begonias, impatiens, and coleus for a lush layered look
Planting Instructions
Plant tubers with the growing points (eyes) facing upward, 2 inches deep and 8–12 inches apart. Plant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and daytime temperatures consistently reach 70°F. For a head start, plant indoors 4–6 weeks before the last average frost date.
Outdoor planting: Choose a spot with filtered sunlight, bright indirect light, or partial shade. Dig holes and plant tubers 2 inches deep, eyes up. Caladiums can tolerate some sun but appreciate afternoon shade in hot climates.
Container planting: Use a well-draining potting mix in a container with drainage holes. Plant 2 inches deep, eyes up, and water thoroughly after planting.
Care Tips
- Soil: Well-draining, moisture-retentive mix with organic content
- Water: Keep consistently moist; avoid soggy conditions which cause rot
- Light: Partial to full shade preferred; tolerates filtered sunlight
- After season: Remove yellowing foliage at season’s end. In colder climates, dig tubers before first frost, air-dry for several days, and store in peat moss in a cool location through winter
Perfect for gardeners who love variety — every leaf is a surprise, and the full mixed planting creates a rich, tropical tapestry that lasts all season long.
