Poaceae (Grass Family)
The blue muhly plant, known scientifically as Muhlenbergia lindheimeri, is named after the notable Texas botanist, Ferdinand Lindheimer. Its attractive blue-green foliage forms clumps that are 3 to 5 feet tall, and in late summer and fall, it produces slender seed stalks. This ornamental grass makes for an excellent substitute for pampas grass, though it is much shorter in size.
