The Edible Starflower with Honey-Sweet Blooms & Bee-Magnet Beauty

White Borage (Borago officinalis ‘Alba’) is a captivating annual herb that produces gorgeous pure-white, star-shaped flowers with a surprisingly sweet, honey-like flavor. One of nature’s rare truly edible flowers, White Borage is prized for garnishing salads, chilled drinks, teas, and desserts — while its textured, cucumber-flavored leaves and bee-attracting blooms make it a standout companion plant in every kitchen garden.

Why Grow White Borage?

  • Rare Edible Flowers: White star-shaped blooms are sweet and honey-flavored — beautiful floating in lemonade, iced tea, or cocktails, or frozen in ice cubes as elegant garnishes.
  • Cucumber-Flavored Leaves: Young, tender leaves add a fresh cucumber note to salads and summer drinks.
  • Excellent Companion Plant: Bee-attracting blooms improve pollination throughout the vegetable garden and orchard. Also deters certain pests.
  • Medicinal & Tea Uses: Long used in herbal traditions for its adrenal-supporting and anti-inflammatory properties; flowers and leaves make a pleasant herbal tea.
  • Liberal Self-Seeder: Drops seeds to produce new plants the following spring — plant once and enjoy for years.
