  • Rare white to pale violet flower form
  • Compact alpine perennial reaching 6-10 inches tall

  • Attractive rosette of dark green, wrinkled leaves
  • Perfect for rock gardens, alpine troughs, and scree beds
  • Cold-hardy and drought-tolerant once established

  • Hardy in USDA zones 5-8

Growing Instructions:

Horminum pyrenaicum seeds benefit from cold stratification. Sow seeds in fall outdoors for natural stratification, or refrigerate for 4-6 weeks before spring sowing. Surface sow seeds on well-draining, gritty soil mix and press lightly without covering, as seeds need light to germinate. Keep consistently moist but not waterlogged. Germination occurs in 2-4 weeks at 60-65°F. Prefers full sun to partial shade and excellent drainage. Space plants 8-12 inches apart. Thrives in lean, rocky soils similar to its native alpine habitat.

Garden Uses:

Ideal for rock gardens, alpine gardens, scree beds, troughs, and containers. Perfect for creating naturalized alpine meadow plantings. Pairs beautifully with other alpine plants, saxifrages, sedums, and dwarf conifers. Excellent for gardeners seeking rare and unusual alpine species.
