This particular tulip, with its gentle orange hue, easily pairs with any other color in a Spring garden. It complements Mango Charm and Copper Image beautifully, and also adds a touch of drama when mixed with darker tulips. Add it to peach and citrus accents, or balance it out with cooler blues and lilacs. Its long and sturdy stems, measuring 24 inches, will bring a bright and cheerful touch to both your vase or your garden.
Tulips grow best in zones 4-7 where colder winters are more common. When planting outdoors most classes of tulips do not return every year, with the exception of the Darwin Hybrids and species. We grow them in pots and crates and compost the bulbs after they bloom.
Outdoor Beds
To ensure proper drainage, choose a location with well-drained soil. If there is excess water after a hard rain, choose a different site or add organic material to raise the level by 2-3 inches. Plant tulips in an area with full sun to light shade, and keep in mind that they will need a period of winter cooling to return in subsequent springs. This is possible in northern areas and cooler parts of zone 8. (Note: some may suggest tulips can return in year-round warmth of zone 9, but this is not always the case.)
Plant tulips 5" apart and 6" to 7" deep at the base. Deeper planting depths are better in colder regions. Position the bulbs with the pointy end facing up.
After planting, water well once, gently soaking the soil to settle it around the roots. Roots will form in the autumn. Foliage and flowers will develop in the spring.
When in bloom, feel free to cut tulips for striking bouquets.
After blooming has finished for the season leave the foliage in place; don't cut it off. The leaves will gather sunlight, create food through photosynthesis and strengthen the bulb for the future. Water as needed during active growth periods; about 1" of moisture per week is a good estimate.
By the early summer the leaves will yellow and die back. The dried foliage may be removed at this point. Your bulbs will rest until next spring when they'll beginning the next growing cycle. When leaves are absent and the bulbs are dormant, withhold water.
Containers: Pots, Barrels, Tubs & Urns
Start with containers of good quality, well-drained soil. Tulips that sit in water logged soil will rot. Shorter varieties usually perform better in all but the largest containers.
Plant your tulips where they will get full sun to light shade. Keep in mind that for tulips to return in subsequent springs they will need a period of winter cooling. This happens easily in northern areas and will occur to the cooler parts of zone 8. (Some bulb sellers suggest that tulips will return after growing the year round warmth of zone 9. Sadly, it's just wishful thinking.)

I am very pleased with the seeds. I will be buying a lot more seeds and live plants in the future from you, Caribbean Garden Seed Co.
I emailed three times asking for a refund as this item was back ordered, and I did not receive it. I got no response at all, no refund, no updates on the status.
