Sow December to May for plants ready July to August. Shade from direct sunlight, maintain high humidity. April-May sowings produce plants from July-August. BEGONIA Tuberous Rooted Glasshouse Perennial Grown as Half hardy annual. 20-22 weeks sowing to flowering. Begonias need a rich but well-drained soil and partial shade. Can be grown indoors or in warm, non-humid climates.
When plants begin to yellow in the autumn after flowering, reduce watering to induce the natural winter dormancy. In cold climates, this is the time that the tubers should be lifted and stored inside in a cool, dry location until buds reappear in the spring. They may be replanted in pots or outdoors once danger of frost has passed and soil temperatures are warm.
